Gigi Jaynes (Knudsen) VIEW PROFILE

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Gigi (Jaynes) Knudsen, 44, of South Sioux City passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at the home of her father in Plymouth County with her family at her side after a two-year battle with cancer.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 21st and A Street in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Gigi was born Nov. 30, 1960, in Sioux City to Robert and Mavis Jaynes. She attended M.G. Clark, Herbert Hoover and graduated from North High School in 1980. She was a dedicated employee of Metz Baking Co. for over 25 years.

Some of her interests included movies, music, theater and traveling and was an avid hockey fan. Gigi will be remembered by all who knew her and loved her as a devoted mother, friend, sister and daughter. She was hard working and a caring person.

Survivors include a daughter, Liberty Knudsen; a son, Justus Knudsen; a grandson, Davion Kotz, all of South Sioux City; her parents, Robert and Mavis Jaynes of Sioux City; a brother, Wesley Jaynes of Tulare, Calif.; two sisters, Pamela Benefield of Richland, S.D., and Dena Mill of Longmont, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and a sister, Janelle Larson.

Pallbearers will be Bob Pederson, Stan Cook, Charles Brewer, Derek DeBell, Bill Farris and Jeff Niles. Honorary pallbearers will be Brenda Jorgensen, Kathy Speth, Joyce Williams, Debbie Miller and Selena Speth.

The family requests memorials directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
