Ken Bolles

SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth Clyde Bolles, 46, of Garnett, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in Garnett.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Kenny was born Sept. 3, 1962, at Sioux City, the son of Clyde H. and Joyce P. (Short) Bolles, joining sister, Linda and brothers, Mike and Curt. He attended grade school and junior high in Leeds and graduated early from North High School in 1980 to join the U.S. Air Force. Kenny worked for nearly 20 years as a welding inspector for SOR Controls of Lenexa, Kan.

An active and loud Democrat, who still endorses Barack Obama for president and a straight Democratic ticket, Kenny carried on his parents' political activity, volunteering for campaigns as far back as Carter-Mondale in 1980. Kenny was a founder of the liberal blog, DubyaD40.com, which lampoons all things conservative, and for which he wrote a weekly column under the pseudonym, Clyde the NASCAR Liberal. Decorum prohibits reprinting in this space anything Kenny ever wrote.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, and is celebrated by his sister, Linda Lukken of Ottawa, Kan.; two brothers and their wives, Curt Bolles and Michealle of Sioux City, and Mike Bolles and Toni of Springhill, Kan.; three nephews; two nieces; eight grand nieces and nephews; numerous aunts and uncles; a horde of cousins; various adopted family members; and an army of Web fans.
